COMPANY GOALS and OBJECTIVES

As a groundwater and mineral exploration consulting firm, the main objective is to provide expert service to our Clients in Government, private sector and the mining industry and impart knowledge to upcoming Hydrogeologists.  To achieve this, Groundwater and Mineral Services has formed partnerships and collaborations with other private companies offering the same services or providing complimentary services to widen GMS’s expertise.

Issues of climate change and their impacts on water resources and the significant role that groundwater plays to mitigate against water shortages and groundwater impacts on mine profitability are of importance.

SADC countries have growth in the mining industry, a sector which forms the economic backbone of many countries and being the biggest contributor to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).  These rapid increases in the mining sector lead to rapid increase in the demand for water, in particular groundwater for mine water supply and processing demand.  This increase in mining activity also increases the prevalence of impacts on the existing groundwater and surface water environments either due to groundwater abstraction or to waste water disposal – bringing the need for proper water management (demand, supply and environmental management).

Increase in the mining activity also comes with the need for detailed mineral exploration using both ground and airborne geophysical methods.

Hydrogeological consultancy is also offered as input into EIA, ESHIA and EMPs for life of mine, mine closure and post closure studies.

Groundwater and mineral services (GMS Pty Ltd) offers professional services to all the fields mentioned above from project pre-feasibility to operation and post-operation phases.
